At short, regular intervals (every 30 minutes at the weekend) the Lake Wolfgangsee Boat Company ferries passengers comfortably from Strobl to St. Wolfgang-Schafberg and then on to St. Gilgen and, of course, the other way round! (Only these three stops will be available). There is a shuttle boat between St. Wolfgang Schafberg and St. Wolfgang Markt operating form Friday to Sunday form 12 to 6 pm. Last day of the shuttle is the 17th of December.
Warm up on board with a mug of punch or mulled wine! The distinctive emblems of the three villages can be seen from a distance: St. Gilgen’s 11 metre high advent candle, Strobl’s Christmas star and St. Wolfgang’s lantern of peace.
The ferries operate daily from 24th November to 23rd December and from 25th December to 1st January 2018, that is, during the Christmas and New Year’s Markets too.
Five of the six boats belonging to the Lake Wolfgangsee fleet (with a capacity of c.1000 passengers) will be in operation. Only the paddle steamer the “Kaiser Franz Josef”, delivered in pieces from Linz to Strobl at the beginning of 1873, has to stop in winter. It was on the 20th May, 1873 that this boat completed its maiden voyage, beginning the ferry service on Lake Wolfgangsee.
Tickets can be purchased in the ticket offices on the three landing stages. We recommend that groups book in advance on 06138 – 2232-0 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Tip: If you purchase a day ticket, you can visit every village and get on and off as often as you like!
