The lake of the thousand manger figurines
Impressive “Kripperlroas” (= sightseeing of several mangers) from January 6th until January 31st, 2010
The „Kripperlroas“, as well as mangers in general, has a century long tradition in the Salzkammergut area, most of all in Bad Ischl and in Ebensee. In the course of an excursion or a hike through the village several nativity scenes can be viewed. Next to landscape mangers and shadow mangers the visitors are invited to also look at live-size hand carved manger figurines as well as “animate” nativity sets with animals at the Wolfgangseer „Kripperlroas“.
These scenes are displayed in St. Wolfgang and Strobl in the parish churches and showrooms. A swimming „boat manger“ will be shown on a boat from the Wolfgangsee Schifffahrt. In several restaurants, private houses and farms the guests will be greeted with a “Schnapserl” and the mangers and their origination will be explained.
The lake Wolfgangsee presents itself as the lake with the most and largest manger figurines.
* 60 larger than life manger figurines, which describe the nativity scene typically for the Salzkammergut region – carved out of fir wood
* shadow mangers and large landscape mangers
* numerous smaller mangers within the framework of an exhibition
* „animate“ nativity sets with animals, as well as children’s mangers
* „private“ mangers in several restaurants, farms on the lake Wolfgangsee, which can be visited freely at given times
*3 church-mangers in the pilgrimage church of St. Wolfgang, the parish church in Strobl, as well as the „pilgrim’s church“ on the Falkenstein
* swimming „boat manger“ on a boat from the Wolfgangsee Schifffahrt
*shepherd’s path with shadow figures
*4 metre large landscape nativity scene with over 100 pieces
Free light-of-peace-lantern
There is a particular surprise at the Wolfgangsee Advent market:
The first 220 visitors who visit the Wolfgangsee Advent market in St. Gilgen, in Strobl and/ or in St. Wolfgang on Thursdays receive an original light-of-peace-lantern free of charge.
This special offer is valid in all three Wolfgangsee-Advent villages, which means that per every advent-Thursday 660 Laternen are distributed free of charge on the lake Wolfgangsee.
Whoever gets there first has the best chances to snatch of one of the much sought-after lanterns, which are officially acknowledged as light-of-peace-lanterns by the ORF.
Distribution exclusively individually, every Thursday from 1pm!
